Superior has a population of 2,055 and a mayor/council form of government. The current mayor is Sonia Schmidt.. Superior operates a municipally-owned utility system. Statewide, Nebraska utilities are the 7th lowest in the nation.
Superior is home to a fabulous library located at 449 N. Kansas. Open hours are 1:30 - 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10:00 a.m. - noon and 1:30 - 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Anyone over the age of 5, living inside the city limits may receive a library card free of charge. Non residents may apply for a card for an individual or family for $18.00 per year. A card in good standing enables the holder to check out up to 10 items at a time.
Items Available at the Library are: an extensive book collection, audio books, videos, magazines, reference books, newspapers, computers with internet access, and downloadable audio books.
Genealogy: You will find books on how to get started, books on how to find addresses, military records, and birth and death records from various states. Copies of obituaries from the Superior area and Nuckolls County cemetery records are available. Also available for use are a microfilm reader with copy capabilities, and three computers with internet access. The Superior newspapers on file include those from the late 1800s. The area census from the 1800s and early 1900s is also available. The Nuckolls County Genealogical Society meets in the library every 4th Tuesday of the month, at 7:30 p.m.

Children's Services: Storytime and summer reading programs
Outreach Programs: Traveling large print library provided to the Superior Good Samaritan Center, also a delivery service for shut-ins.
Meeting Room: The library's meeting room is open to the public to use by appointment. The room will hold up to 40 people, and may be reserved for times when the library is not normally open.

612 East 6th, 402-879-4144 We are proud to have an excellent, growing musuem located in Superior with five buildings constructed on site to house the collection, an original school house, log cabin (Superior's first post office) and soon a church. One entire building is devoted to a model airplane collection. Musuem is open Mondays and by appointment throughout the year, Sunday afternoons during the summer months. Admission is free.
