Superior Hires Economic Development Director

Monday evening members of the Superior City Council confirmed Mayor Schmidt's selection of Mary Scroggins to serve as the next economic developement director. She will take office in March. Her salary will be $24.64 per hour. She will not receive city benefits.

Superior Hires Policeman
Perry Freeman has retired as Superior Police Chief. He has been replaced by Jill Allgood and a new officer, Darrell Wilks has been hired. He has purchased a house in Superior and will be moving here from Texas. His start date is Feb. 1. He comes with 37 years of law enforcement experience and will be paid $17.22 per hour..

Superior voters to decide on sales tax
Will the current city sales tax be renewed or will it be allowed to expire. The Mayor and City Council not only want it to continue, they want it to increase from the current 1 percent to 1.5 percent. Action taken Monday night moves the questeion forward. An all mail vote is scheduled to be taken on the question March 10.

Candy Cane Lane Closing New Year's Eve
If you haven't been to see Superior's Candy Cane Lane the time is about up for this year. The popular attraction is set to close for the season on New Year's Eve. It seems the Christmas spectacular in Lincoln Park grows and gets better ever year.
